Kolkata: The city is likely to have already seen its hottest day of the week, as the weekend temperature is unlikely to cross the 38.1°C mark recorded on Friday, said Met officials. Renewed showers from Monday are likely to knock the mercury down a few notches.
However, humidity carried by southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal is likely to keep the city hot and uncomfortable till Monday, despite overcast skies preventing the sun from beating down.
Between Monday and next Friday, the city may see light to moderate thundershowers due to moisture incursions from the Bay.
Meanwhile, a low-pressure system developing off the Andaman coast on May 23, which may move towards the Bengal coast while developing into a depression, has renewed hope of continued May rainfall in the last week of the month.
On Saturday, the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to remain near 38°C and 29°C respectively while the sky is likely to remain partly cloudy.
